Primed Surface: One gallon covers approximately 100 square feet with about 5-10 mils (.05-.10 inches) of coating. Calculate it Length x Width = Square Feet of Surface
 Divide the total square feet of surface by the number of feet covered in one gallon = Number of gallons for the job.
- Primer on smooth surface: Divide the total square feet by 100 = Number of gallons for the job.
- Cool Top Coat on a primed surface: Divide the total square feet by 100 = Number of gallons for the job.
ExampleTop coat a patio with one layer of primer and one layer of cool top coat. If the patio is 15 feet wide x 20 feet long = 300 total square feet Primer: 300 ÷ 100 = 3 gallons of primer needed for the job. Cool Top Coat: 300 ÷100 = 3 gallons of cool top coat needed for the job.
